🍪✨ Wellness Wednesday: Anti-Inflammatory Orange Oatmeal Cookies ✨🍊

Healthy eating should still feel comforting and enjoyable — and these cookies are one of my favorite examples of that balance.

This week, I made a modified version of a cranberry orange oatmeal cookie recipe with a more integrative, anti-inflammatory approach. I removed the white sugar entirely and added fresh shredded ginger along with cinnamon, creating what I like to call my Anti-Inflammatory Cookies. 🌿

The combination of orange, ginger, and cinnamon not only adds warmth and flavor, but also provides ingredients known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

✨ Ingredients

• 1 cup butter, softened
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 tablespoon orange zest
• 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1½ cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1 inch fresh ginger, finely shredded
• ½ teaspoon sea salt
• 3 cups rolled oats
• 1 cup dried cranberries

✨ Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs, orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla. Mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  6. Fold in oats and dried cranberries.
  7. Scoop onto a lined baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes or until lightly golden.
  8. Allow cookies to cool before serving.

✨ Health Benefits

🍊 Orange zest and juice provide vitamin C and antioxidants that support immune health.

🌿 Ginger contains natural anti-inflammatory compounds that may help support digestion and reduce inflammation.

✨ Cinnamon may help support blood sugar balance and adds natural sweetness without extra sugar.

🥣 Oats provide fiber that supports gut health, satiety, and steadier energy levels.

❤️ Cranberries contain antioxidants that help support overall cellular health.

One of the things I often remind patients is that wellness doesn’t mean eliminating every comfort food. Sometimes it’s about making thoughtful ingredient changes that better support your body while still enjoying the foods you love.

At Vitality MD, we focus on sustainable nutrition and balanced wellness — not perfection.
